Sophie’s legs on the left, Cee Cee on the right, mom in the middle and gaboodles of mushrooms dot the ground.
We took a break from framing and painting. Our mission was to enjoy some time in the woods with Cee Cee, a Brussels Griffon (possibly part Ewok) and Sophie, a Rottweiler /Pit bull (mostly creampuff). Sophie lives with my brother most of the time, so we picked her up from there and went on our merry way.
Peters Creek in August is a mushroom haven! I found one of my coolest specimens here. I am certainly no expert, but am learning fast! The info I found says this Coral Fungus, Hericium is very edible and tastes like crab, of all things. And no, I don’t eat wild mushrooms…yet!
Will check in with more Alaska news soon,

You live in a beautiful place with awesome creatures–wow!

Thank you, Marian. It is mom and dad’s place and creatures, but I’m lucky to be able to spend a lot of time here each year.
Warm hugs and I’m thinking of you.

Love mushrooms! I could eat that. I love crab, too!

I’m too chicken. But I did see a recipe for stuffed mushrooms with this coral fungus instead of crab meat! They say it even has a similar texture.

How awesome! I am in Fairbanks and will be posting a mushroom walk I took today, tomorrow. Love your post, Patti.

I’ll watch for it, Susan. I’m a little addicted to taking mushroom photos lately. Haven’t been to Fairbanks since I was 16. I just remember it was hot!

Nice ‘shrooms and nice photo series. Thanks for a beautiful walk. It poured here all day. I’ll have to take up photographing slugs and mosquitoes.

Thank you, Elaine. Plenty of slugs and mosquitoes here too! We have only had a couple non-rain/cloud days here since I got here on 7th. Good for the ‘shrooms 🙂

Sorry Patti we’re all over your page. But we’ve been absent so long I feel like we’ve missed so much! This post almost had a fairytale feel to it. But then mushrooms always make me feel like that! The flowers are animated & the green like emeralds; add the mushrooms & you got me feeling like Alice in Wonderland. Sharing this gem now, Sweety!! 😉 xoxo ❤

No need to apologize, just glad you made it. You haven’t missed much, as I’ve been under the dark cloud in my cave. Alaska and family has helped, so here I am posting again. Love & hugs & good luck with your writing! xoxo
